Are you trying to say that you are seeing double? That may be a problem with the distance between your pupils and the distance between the lenses. You could try moving the lenses farther or closer together to better match your eyes.
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind this too. I generally just open up the lens correction thing with trinus and try to make the grid lines straight. It works but, I wouldn’t mind knowing what I’m actually doing, hah.
Thank you for your reply. Yeah, 4:3 seemed to work better. I had to cut less off the edges. I should have thought to use it, because I was using 4:3 or 8:9 for fake 3D.
Thanks, loxai. As always your post is quick and informative. I knew I could save profiles for the server settings, but I didn’t realize that could apply to the lens settings. I will try that out.
I’ve been running with a 16:9 resolution with tridef (1024:768) and I’ve been still having issues with horizontal squeeze (things look “skinny”). I’m wondering why this might be. I end up stretching the image pretty far in order to even it out. When doing that it cuts off a good bit of the sides. Is that just me or have others noticed that problem? I’ve been using 16:9 because it was recommended to me, so I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. Besides that problem, everything has been going great, the app works really well for me.
Ah, man. I’ve been playing Portal with Tridef. It is epic. Portal is really good because you aren’t trying to 360 no scope enemies while playing it. Works really well in VR.
I have a flip case for my nexus 5, then i just spray it with glasses solution (water with a tiny alcohol in it i think) and wipe it with a tissue or soft cloth. That does the job quite well. If there’s lingering particles I use a tissue and just kinda brush it lightly to get them off.
If you can buy an otterbox or similar case for your phone, that might work well. Those cases usually come with a screen guard that’s removable, its clear plastic that covers the screen. That’s a good way to keep it clean, because when you take it out of that case, it hasn’t been touched.
I’ve had success running games with Tridef and Trinus Gyre. So far I have:
– Tridef > Bioshock 1 (Had to force dx9 for tridef)
– Tridef > Portal
– Tridef > Borderlands
– Tridef > Batman Arkham city
Honestly, if you can get the game running in tridef, I think It’ll work with Trinus gyre.
– Native sbs > Janus VR. Janus is a 3D webbrowser, where the pages are rooms that you walk into. It has great potential and is very cool. You guys should try it out. Basically just need to force windowed and sbs mode and it works with trinus in “compatible” Instead of fast.
I don’t see the buttons with android 4.4.4 and a Nexus 5. Did you try swiping from the top? To me it just launches without it. Hey Draque, does Trinus Gyre run ok with 5.0? Someone made a post saying it didnt work a while ago. Also, I don’t have access to android 5.0 for some reason, doesn’t come up when i check for updates.
Haizum, what are you using for a headset? I am noticing with a Google Cardboard set, that with lens correction off characters tend to look “skinny” but, the surroundings look alright. However, when I put on lens correction everything gets pretty wonky, but the characters look better. That’s with Fake 3D. I try messing with the correction settings, but odd stuff happens and it doesn’t seem worth it so I just keep it off most times.
I’m a bit late to the party with this post, but I figured I’ll throw my 2 cents in anyway. I was messing around with L4D2 with Vierio and was trying to use the settings they have to change convergence and stuff and it didn’t work too well for me. My eyes kept bugging out and it didn’t feel great overall. I decided to flick it into fake3D mode and I had a much better time with it. Although there might not be a “3D effect” I could still sense scale and everything that you just don’t get with a monitor. For example, looking up at a tall building and feeling it loom over you.
Ok, ok. So I’m a bit of a layman when it comes to resolution. So just to clarify, the Nexus 5 has a resolution of 1920×1080, That’s 16:9 I think. So where I’m using vierio for SBS I’d want to match the phone res at 1920×1080 ingame, right? Then for fake 3d, I’d just go 960×1080? I think I might be able to force resolution through the config file of the game, not entirely sure yet. Thanks for taking the time to answer, your efforts show what this project means to you, It really is interesting, what you’ve managed to do so far.
