Alright, here’s a couple new things to try. First, an update on the psvrTest build (https://trinusvirtualreality.com/files/psvrTest.zip).
If that doesn’t work, and following acsdani workaround of first starting 0.9.2 then 0.9.6, I’ve prepared a mini starter. Here it is: https://trinusvirtualreality.com/files/StartupTest.zip
So the idea is to first run this exe from command line with a few parameters, like this:
SteamVRStartup.exe “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 250820” false false
Then wait until SteamVR is loaded, press Enter on the SteamVRStartup command line, then start 0.9.6
If this second option works, I’ll clean it up and integrate into 0.9.7.June 26, 2018 at 1:59 am #7790
Thanks for your work!
The new psvrTest build basically working the same as 0.9.6.
(So bad ghosting without the starting trick, with starting trick it’s good, but with FreePIE the
orientation isn’t working. When using FreePIE script to move, it’s ghosting.)
The last test build that has working FreePIE and not ghosting is 0.9.4c.
BUT the StartupTest is working fine just as my trick! 🙂
I’ve done everything as you said:
Started from a command line with the parameters you said.
Then waited for SteamVR, then go to the command line again (Compositor showed on my monitor, so I had to ALT+TAB to the command line)
Then I pressed Enter, then launched 0.9.6 and it’s GREAT! 😀June 26, 2018 at 8:18 pm #7795
Updated test build (https://trinusvirtualreality.com/files/psvrTest.zip) that should sort out the ghosting problem without needing to start 0.9.2. Choose Ghosting fix in SteamVR Start mode to apply.
As for the FreePIE issue discussed on the other thread, I have tested it (following the same protocol stated there, and at 4ms poll rate) and haven’t noticed any problem.June 26, 2018 at 10:36 pm #7796
This “Ghosting fix” option doesn’t work for me. 🙁
I tried it several ways but no success. It should open that compositor window or not? But it doesn’t open it. And after manually open SteamVR, it’s still ghosting. Tried it vice versa too (so open SteamVR first) but no success.
I made a shortcut for the previous StartupTest in Windows’s built-in shortcut maker with this command:
%comspec% /k d:\..my path to the exe..\SteamVRStartup.exe “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 250820” false false
And discovered that there’s no need to press Enter after it shows the compositor. Just Alt+TAB and start Trinus. If you could implement just something similar shortcut, then I think it should work fine.
So you can’t help somehow with FreePIE? It’s just the new versions, it’s working fine with 0.9.2 and 0.9.4c. :/June 27, 2018 at 12:00 am #7797
Yes, it should launch the compositor automatically. My guess is that it is not finding the Steam path. A workaround while I fix it would be to go to Advanced tab and Set the start program (to a shortcut of SteamVR).June 27, 2018 at 12:12 am #7798
Just updated with additional check to find Steam folderJune 27, 2018 at 1:31 am #7799
Awesome! Now it’s working fine! 🙂June 28, 2018 at 1:21 pm #7803
That did it for me too, its now running fine at a constant 120fps. 😀
