The menus are invisible as well. But I was able to navigate them nonetheless. Just wamted to say that the game doesn’t freeze. If I start a game and move around I can tell from the sounds that I’m actually moving in the game.
The problem with Minecrift seems to be that the developers have been very busy over the last months and didn’t work much on Minecrift. I would just ask them if they could incorporate a mode for non-rift users but as they are still in beta for 1.7 although the update already is a year old I don’t want to ask them now.October 23, 2014 at 8:54 am #1091
Is the only difference between Minecraft and Minecrift the fact they have implemented Oculus into it?October 23, 2014 at 9:15 am #1092cercataParticipant
“Is the only difference between Minecraft and Minecrift the fact they have implemented Oculus into it?”
Minecraft sayd they were gonna support Oculus Rift natively, but after that they abandoned the project.
Then someone made a MOD called Minecrift to add Oculus Rift support to Minecraft in an unofficial way …October 23, 2014 at 10:12 am #1093
I see, so really with Trinus Gyre you don’t need the mod then?October 23, 2014 at 3:32 pm #1094cercataParticipant
Yes & No.
Trinus does everything you need except rendering the image Stereoscopic 3D.
For that, you need that the game can render nativelly in S3D, a driver that renders in S3D (Tridef, Vireio, iZ3D or NDIVIA 3D Vision), or a MOD that forces the game to render en S3D (Minecrift).
If we can not get Minecrift to show on the display, you will need a driver that renders in S3D and is compatible with Minecraft.
If none is compatible, you can activate Fake 3D in Trinus, it’s nice, but it’s not S3D.October 23, 2014 at 5:50 pm #1096
OK, I haven’t actually used TG yet apart from testing games out as my vr headset hasn’t arrived so I couldn’t comment on the fake 3d vs natural. Is there much difference?October 23, 2014 at 5:58 pm #1097
Fake3D works better than expected as I experienced yesterday. However, real 3D is way better.October 27, 2014 at 2:13 pm #1148
try to download minecrift for 1.6.4.
1.7.10 is not good with trinus gyre.
i play with 1.6.4 and its very cool…
after you download it go to the settings and change them…
you found a button that alows you to move with the mouse so you dont need the ocouls.
my settings in trinus gyre:
quality – Low
in the game i change the quality too…
#sorry, my english is pretty bad…October 27, 2014 at 9:20 pm #1160
I didn’t try 1.6 because I run a private server with 1.7 and wanted to play 1.7 of course. However, just to see if it works I installed Minecrift for 1.6 now and yes, it works. After installing Minecrift 1.6 the black screen issue in 1.7 went away. I can now play 1.7. But Minecrift 1.7 seems to be very unstable, it crashes after a few minutes while 1.6 works well.
There is still a problem with both Minecrift versions though: Head tracking in mouse mode only works for left and right and not up and down. Minecrift seems to disable up and down control for the real mouse so it’s not Trinus Gyre’s fault. I didn’t see a setting to change that, did you?October 28, 2014 at 6:05 am #1166
go to options
click on “mode =” until it will be “mode = mouse”
decouple look/move = off (you dont have, i did it for better experience)
pitch affect camera = on
some things i did in the settings:
skip the calibration off razar hedra or oculus rift (so it not ask you for connect them or click on something in the start)
change the position of your head.
add a backround to the menu.
disable head tracking (if you not do that maybe you will have bugs in the game)
change the position of the picture (my lenses are far away from the picture)
I suggest to install with binaural audio. It makes the music sound more realistic (in the headphones) you find it in the installer.
* Do not download shaders mod, it will crash your game (because the phone can not run it) …
(even if you do not have minecrift)
1.7.10 create for oculus rift DK2 (the new one). just if you have it you can play with no bugs…
i try with many versions of the game but 1.6.4 is the best.
enjoy 😀October 28, 2014 at 6:50 am #1170
i found a little bug in 1.6.4, if you died you need to enter and out of the menu to restart the game (if you dont do that you not see “game over” at all)
but it’s not a big deal.October 29, 2014 at 2:50 pm #1193
“pitch affect camera = on”
overlooked this one, thanks. I tried with Limelight and USB Tethering and 1.6 is working quite well now. But I have the feeling that the 3D seperation is not optimal for my setup. I will fiddle with IPD and other settings when I have the time.
I’ve had binaural audio installed before. I’m an enthusiast in binaural audio and if you are interested in this topic I recommend you to search for Aureal A3D and Gsound demonstration videos. Great technology.December 20, 2014 at 10:51 pm #1702ketenParticipant
My screen is frozen…. I cant see nothing. Only minecraft settings screenJanuary 3, 2015 at 7:33 pm #1844FlybelParticipant
OK, now that I am registered and also interested in playing Minecraft in 3D, here is what I know:
Minecrift is frozen on the main menu (only on mobile device) -> Change Mode to Compatible instead of fast, worked for me.
I already played with Minecrift to test it, but headtracking didn’t work so I wasn’t able to look up or down, and on Minecrift the mouse controls only sidewards yawing.
I have Vireio Perception installed, and I don’t get how it works.
However, what also annoys on Minecrift is that the image has a fisheye effect, because Trinus Gyre has an own fisheye effect as well. I don’t even know if one is needed, because the Cardbord test app from Google doesn’t have one and works anyways.
So what I need is the correct headtracking setting and the ability to get rid of the double-fisheye effect, if I was able to read the Minecraft chat then I would be happy 😉
I think that normal applications don’t work because different images are shown on each eye. Maybe that could get fixed?
I hope somebody can help!January 26, 2015 at 10:37 pm #2122spyflyParticipant
Anyone has an idea how to get ingame Headtracking working? The Mod on 1.8 is running fine. I don’t want to use the mouse emulator for headtracking. Any ideas?
