ParticipantI was probably a bit ambitious trying this but thought I would give it a go. Set sensor type to TrackIR , Port 7777 and Sensor 5555 and booted up War Thunder over Router WiFi (15Mbps). When moving the Nexus 5 around, it tracks fine on the PC screen but on the phone itself FPS is 1-3fps even at low settings. I also tried it over USB tether but got the same result.
Has anyone else tried and got any better results?

ParticipantGood Morning i’ve just updated to version 1.4 on server and client, and tested warthunder. after a bit of fiddling i turned of head tracking by selecting the last option on the server side. then set the 3d to fake 3d. then went into the game and set it to windowed mode at 1048 by 768, then set textures to low. as long as you have an N router which gives up to 54Mbbs there’s barley any lag.
hope this helps.October 13, 2014 at 12:32 am #692Haizum74
ParticipantThanks for the info, it certainly helped and its reduced lag a lot. Now the problem I have is after setting up my HOTAS X its stopped tracking. However, which setting do you mean by the last on server side?
I tried it with mouse setting originally which worked, seems my control setup has thrown something off kilter.

ParticipantSeems I had used my stick to also control view, reset and all working. Now to try and cut down lag. Getting 10-15fps which is an increase from 1fps

Keymaster10-15fps is quite low… are you using a fast PC? also keep in mind USB is the fastest connection type, by quite a lot (a direct or router connection can work well too if both ends support dual band/n draft/ac), so it is best if you can use that.
finally, the latest version, released yesterday does bring some speed improvements (specially on latency), so worth using that oneOctober 13, 2014 at 4:40 pm #699Haizum74
ParticipantI’m running an AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU and a Radeon HD 7700 GC and 8GB Ram.
Ive updated to the latest version and it improved from 1 FPS to 10-15. Ive just got USB (2.0) Tethering working and its still bringing the same FPS. Just ordered a new case with USB 3.0 which my MB can take.
I have been looking at upgrading the AMD and the GC too but need to sell my PS4 first.
Iv’e tried the settings from AxelB up top and they have helped especially fake 3D which I forgot about and its raised it to 17-20fps unless I look at any ground based objects and it falls to 8fpsSeems to be this game only I have issues with. Alien Isolation works fine
Ive got the PlusNet router (single band 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz router) which could be the issue as its not the greatest and only get 15Mb download.Any suggestions from folk regarding router options, great

KeymasterIf you get same level of performance whether you use USB or Wifi, most likely the bottleneck is somewhere else. The Nexus 5 should be able to handle it, and you mention most games work fine, so I’d be inclined to believe the issue is with that particular game and the PC hardware you are using.
As for router, I’d suggest you stick to the USB option or, for wireless enjoyment, the direct/hotspot connection. But if you must use the router, better to have the PC plugged with ethernet cable.October 13, 2014 at 11:12 pm #735Haizum74
ParticipantYes, I’ve tried my other games and they seem fine. I’m just wondering if its down to War Thunder being online and connection lag, although I don’t have it when playing normally !! I’m looking at upgrading now after this (good excuse as any) so I will see. The router is cable connected, only my phone and tablet are on wifi. Either way it gives me something to do while off work. 🙂

Keymasteraha, there might be something there to improve! if using USB tethering and wifi is enabled on the phone, the PC might try to connect to the internet through it, which could explain the slow down. If you disable the Wifi on the phone or change network priority in Windows (so that it connects through the router and not the USB tethering) you might solve the issue…

ParticipantIt was on Airplane mode. No wifi on for tethering. Anyway, new bits and pieces ordered so hopefully after this week I will have a new machine. This app is costing me a fortune 😉

KeymasterThe PC might still try to use the phone’s (disabled) internet first, before going for the standard connection. I’d still suggest to set network priority in Windows.
Man, my intention is to save you money, not cost you more! 😀
I’m doing the same though, I bought a new PC about two weeks ago just to test Limelight integration (Gamestream not supported on my laptop)…October 14, 2014 at 3:58 pm #765Haizum74
ParticipantIve done that too with the link that was posted to untick automatic metric and set to 100. I’m still fiddling about with it though so will keep at it.
Well, its saved me not buying the Oculus AND a new PC so win win ha. Hopefully this new build may sort out the issue. Least I hope so. 😉
